Hey Napoleon! Give me some of your Bacon Tot Bombs!
This week I decided to smoke up my own version of Bacon Tot Bombs. This is an addictive snack that’s making the rounds on social media – and with good reason! These are easy to make which is good because you’ll need a lot of them to keep up with the demand from family and friends!
These Bacon Tot Bombs are really easy to smoke on a Yoder pellet smoker. BBQ Pit Stop carries the full line of Yoder smokers as well as BBQr’S Delight wood pellets. I decided to use sugar maple to complement the bacon.
The first step is to spread the frozen potato tots out on a plate or tray. Let them thaw most of the way at room temperature. Season them with your favorite BBQ rub. This time I used Bacon Jalapeno rub from Big Poppa Smokers but experiment with your personal favorites.
The next step is to wrap the tots in bacon. Use thick cut bacon for the best results. Place a tot at the end of the bacon strip and start to roll it. Go around the tot once then cut the bacon and secure with a toothpick. I could do 3 tots per strip of bacon.
Now brush each of the tots with your favorite BBQ sauce. One of my favorites is actually a combination of 2 sauces from Blues Hog. I like to combine 3 parts Blues Hog to 1 part Blues Hog Tennessee Red Sauce. This is a combination that most people like and I always use it when cooking for large groups.
Finally place the tray in a 300* smoker for 20-30 minutes until the bacon is cooked. The bacon will not crisp up so just smoke it long enough to cook it through. Enjoy!
